About us

Modality Co is a disability-led digital accessibility consultancy based in lutruwita/Tasmania.

We work with organisations of all sizes to make websites, content, and events more accessible to people with disability. We meet you where you’re at and focus on practical, achievable change.

We’re more than a consultancy. As a social enterprise, we reinvest our profits into the disability and accessibility community in lutruwita/Tasmania, primarily through running the Tasmanian Accessibility Community — a space for connection, learning, and collective action.

Our work is grounded in lived experience, professional expertise, and a commitment to making accessibility part of everyday practice, not an afterthought.

Our story

Matt and Rosie together, Matt is standing wearing a knitted sweater and Rosie is sitting in her rollator holding her walking cane.

Modality Co was founded by Rosie and Matthew Putland, partners in life and in accessibility.

With over 15 years of combined experience, we wanted to create a business that not only delivers outstanding accessibility consulting and training, but also strengthens the community we care about.

We believe accessibility is for everyone, and that even with limited resources, progress is always possible.

Our values & impact

We are guided by disability justice principles, which recognise that ableism is connected to other forms of oppression, and that true liberation for Disabled people means liberation for all. This means centring the leadership of those most impacted, working intersectionally, and building cross-movement solidarity — with First Nations peoples, queer communities, and other marginalised groups.

As a disability-led social enterprise, we reinvest our profits into the disability and accessibility community in lutruwita/Tasmania through initiatives like the Tasmanian Accessibility Community. We focus on practical, impactful changes that remove barriers and create lasting inclusion, both in our client work and in our community-building.
